Thank you to everyone who joined us to make our first Gift of Warmth Summer Edition such a huge success!
August 18th was a great day at our Regional Recycling Vancouver Bottle Depot! Joined by our partners Vancouver Community College – Spa & Salon, the Binner’s Project, Working Gear and an amazing crew of staff and volunteers we hosted our first Gift of Warmth Summer Edition.
Every winter for the past 3 years we have held the Gift of Warmth (Winter Edition) where we collect warm winter gear from our customers and provide our Binner clients the opportunity to outfit themselves for the coming winter.
This year we decided to have a Summer Edition as well and are so excited that it was such a huge hit!
We collected clothing throughout the summer and received a wonderful collection of lighter gear for our binner clients to be able to “shop”.
We held a BBQ on August 18th and our binners were welcomed to join us for organic, all-beef hot dogs. Partner organizations the Binner’s Project and Working Gear joined us, giving away safety vests and other information to all of our clients who joined us that day.
The hit of the day was the haircuts, kindly provided by the students of the Vancouver Community College Spa and Salon. Twelve amazing students, their instructor, and the Spa Manager worked tirelessly to ensure that all who wanted a fresh look were able to get a haircut.
