2019 – Gift Of Warmth

Help Our Binner Community Stay Warm This Coming Winter!

Join us for our 2019 Gift of Warmth

Our Binner community is one of the most marginalized and at-risk communities in our area. Making their living primarily from collecting refundable beverage containers that others throw into the garbage, they are a vital part of the recycling loop, ensuring that beverage containers that may otherwise end up in landfills are returned to the recycling system.

As our cold and rainy season approaches temperatures are dropping, increasing the risks of exposure and hypothermia. Our binner clients face cold, wet conditions as the collect discarded beverage containers throughout the city to make their living and support their families.

Regional Recycling is committed to supporting our clients throughout the year, and especially through the roughest months. 2019 marks the 4th year of our Gift of Warmth campaign where we reach out to our community as a whole to help support through donations for this community. We collect gently used clothing and gear, new socks and underwear, and accept beverage container donations to purchase additional underwear.

All of this will be provided to the Binner community at a free BBQ held at our Vancouver Regional Recycling Depot located at 960 Evans Ave on Dec 14th from 10AM – 2PM.

We invite you to help us give back and support those with less. We will be accepting donations of clothing, gear and containers at all of our lower mainland Regional Recycling locations until December 14th.

Please join us in supporting these valuable members of our community.

A little bit about our 2018 Gift of Warmth

Our 2018 Gift of Warmth was a huge success. We not only saw record numbers of our binner community shopping the items collected, we were also joined by the Binners Project and Working Gear. These 2 partner organizations work throughout the year supporting marginalized communities. We were also grateful for the support of many of our local media. You can learn more about our 2018 Gift of Warmth on our blog.
